Hummus Trial #1

Image
Emma and I dug out the food processor and made G'ma's hummus recipe.  It was super easy and yummy after a few modifications - WAY WAY WAY more garlic!!  Going to yummy Zoom church today!
LIFE IS NEVER DULL! Two days ago in the afternoon while I was sitting in my house, I suddenly felt a jolt like someone or something had hit the house.  The clue was in the pictures jumping on the wall - we had an earthquake.   We have lots of small ones but you rarely feel them.  The average earthquake here is 2.0 and the only clue we have is that all the dogs start howling. This time is was noticeable, and when I checked it out with the USGS I found that we had a 6.0 earthquake ESE of Jaco - about two hours northwest of here (140km/90 miles).  It was felt as far as Nicaragua and Panama.   The only damage we have are a few small cracks in my bathroom tile. So, as usual my life keeps being exciting.

Final Project for Geology

For my geology class, we had a course group project instead of a final. This made me happy because, if my math is correct, less finals = happiness. We basically had the freedom to pick any national park in the world and create a project that showed 4 features of the park and how each was formed. The lame options were a pamphlet or a powerpoint and a few other lame ideas. But me, being my mother's daughter, decided to do something epic, super creative, and way harder than those options. Because why do a few hours of work when you can do a few days of work? Made sense to me. So, I pitched the idea of doing an informative children's book to my group mates. They loved the idea. We then made our project outline (we picked a park and the four features, describing each and how they were formed) and at the top I included that we were going to create a children's book. When we got back his video response to our outline, he said that he LOVED the idea and that no one had ever done it...

Hummus Recipe

As some of you know, we would often use the BFS restaurant in Guilderland both for dining and  for catering.  It's chef Shaw Rabadi was incredible.  Unfortunately it is no longer in operation. Recently, I was looking on internet and found the recipe for humus from Chef Rabadi.  I was beyond happy since I love hummus.  I also know that a lot of people in the family also loves it, so here is the recipe.  (David you do not need to look at it - it has chickpeas) Papa Rabadi’s Hummus Ingredients: 1 can of chickpeas (save the juice) 1/3 c. tahini (store upside down to avoid settling)) 3-4 cloves of garlic Pinch of white pepper A few pinches of salt 1 Tbsp. lemon juice/or a few pinches of citric acid 6 pinches of cumin ½ c of chickpea juice (or water) Optional: Extra garlic, hot sauce, Zata’ar spice , olive oil , roasted red peppers, etc.  For decoration: paprika, parsley, sliced lemon, etc. Only your imagination is the limit.
